Job Summary: The Director of Contracts is in charge of negotiating, maintain and updating all contracts records within the organization. They must establish contacts with outside Managed Care Organizations, payor sources and businesses and develop contracts that meet the financial and professional goals of the business. Their duties in this capacity include assurance that contracts are in compliance with laws and organizational policies and oversee maintenance and compliance standards with existing contracts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the contract management processes for the organization.
- Knows contract compliance best practices.
- Maintains confidentiality of all contracts
- Mitigates common contract management risks, such as financial, legal, and security risks.
- Responsible for development of proposals, renewals and negotiating contracts in collaboration with internal departments, key stakeholders and external customers.
- Create and maintain relationships with external sources and serve as the singular point of contact for matters concerning contracts.
- Create, prepare, review and edit all contracts.
- Partners with lawyers to make the contract management process more effective and efficient.
- Maintain records for correspondence and documentation in relation to established contracts and those in progress.
- Keeps track of important contract dates and milestones.
- Ensure the organization's internal contract documents are accurate and well maintained.
- Provide advice and guidance to the different stakeholders relating to contract generation.
- Solve any contract-related problems that may arise with other parties and internally with the company itself.
- They must develop and maintain multiple contracts at a time with local and national territory.
- Adheres to all federal, state, and local business laws and regulations and company policies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of legal terminology.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must have strong computer skills and knowledge of common programs such as Microsoft Office and required software.
- Essential skills required include leadership, organization, negotiation, interpersonal, and communication.
- Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collect, analyze, format, validate and present information.
- Ability to maintain positive internal relationships and work collaboratively within and across departments and key stakeholders.
- Previous experience working with contract regulations the related laws is required.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Willing to travel up to 30% of the time.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Finance, MBA/MS, a plus.
- Six years of contract management and negotiation experience handling multi-state and high-volume
